Image - WHAT are they thinking?!
It’s been said that we don’t live in a world of reality, we live in a world of perception. We know that most people wake up in the morning with the intention of looking good, having a good day; and wanting to be thought of as having value. Mix that in with the desire to be respected, and one really has to wonder why so many dress like they don’t have a clue.
Could it be because they don’t? There are two reasons that people don’t pay attention to their image. Either they just never thought about it themselves, or no one ever told them the impact it can have on their life. Studies show that over 60% of people shooting for the top, dress for failure.
Some of the image killers seen this summer:
Gals – Gals, get a grip. Bouncing boobs and bare butts are not appropriate in the workplace. If you are wearing those tiny pieces of fabric some call skirts to job interviews, you better check what it is that they are hiring you for! To make it in the business world and be taken seriously, stick to the 3 C’s: Conservative, Crisp & Classic.
Guys -- Have you ever noticed when it comes to our bodies what was up in our youth falls down over time, what was in is out. Whether it’s age or added weight causing it, take a good look at that business casual knit shirt you are wearing. An undershirt may be necessary to avoid that “I need a bra” look. And about those wrinkles, learn how to operate an iron (It's easier than the lawn mower and doesn't take nearly as much time). Strive to dress impeccably. Remember, you are the billboard for the person you want to be.
